Transmutation

You're a human philosopher's stone. You can transmute objects into some other material with a touch.

Basic Transmutation: Choose a common substance. By touching an inanimate object, you can use Provoke to transform it into that substance. If you succeed, the object gains an aspect reflecting its new composition, such as Made of Paper. Transforming a handheld object of fairly uniform mundane material is a +1 obstacle, while larger or more complicated objects provide more opposition.

Enhancements

Master Transmutation: You gain +2 to Provoke when attempting to transmute objects.

Reversible Transformation: Your touch can also return objects you've transmuted to their original form. The opposition for this is +2 higher than it was for the original transmutation.

Material Transference: You're not limited to just a single material. You can transmute objects into any solid substance that you're in contact with at the time.

Common Power Synergies

Harm: Your power also works on living creatures, with foreseeably unpleasant results.

Material Mimic: Not only can you transmute objects, but you can even transmute your own flesh.

Drawbacks

  • You can't control when your power will activate. It can trigger entirely against your will. You have a true Midas Touch.
  • You might have once been fond of it, but over time you've eventually grown to loathe the substance that you transmute things into. At this point, you Can't Stand the Sight Of It.

Collateral Damage Effects

Destabilization: If you're in contact with part of a large structure (such as the building you're standing in), you can transmute chunks of it into your substance. This will drastically reduce its integrity, opening up cracks large enough to pass through at a minimum and potentially completely collapsing it.

Protective Shell: With enough concentration, you can alter the air around you into a protective shell made of your substance. This prevents anyone from attacking you but also renders you immobile. Breaking through this shell is normally a +2 obstacle (for you or anyone else), but you can choose to actively defend using Provoke to bolster your shell. In any case, when it does eventually break, it will shatter with great force, doing substantial damage to the surrounding area.
