Meanwhile, Penelope and Don Miguel figured out that Fulgencio de la Mora, who had been freed by an unknown faction, was a demolitions expert, and seemingly connected to a group doing something in the caves beneath the Brasa lighthouse, using Don Miguel's stolen artifact."
GM exclaims, "When everyone reconvenes, Floriana deduces that Fulgencio is probably going to try to blow up the infirmary tonight! When you signed up with El Vago, you didn't expect 'saving the innocent' would include saving a bunch of injured Montaignian invaders, but you suppose that war claims its victims everywhere, and your job is to right wrongs, wherever they may appear!"
[7thsea] GM asks, "Any questions?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Did we gain xp last time :D"
[7thsea] GM says, "Oh, I also wanted to say that in some sessions I have a pretty clear idea of where things might go, and other sessions I have more of a general 'this is what else is going on; the PCs can react however they want', and this is one of those latter times, so feel free to drive things a little stronger this time, knowing that there'll be room to do whatever."

Floriana smiles at Penelope. "We all have people who are dear to us there."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Between trying to prevent the attack ahead of time (i.e., heading off Fulgencio before he goes there) and sneaking in to deal with it as it's in progress, the former seems wiser, but the latter seems more dramatic."

DonMiguel sidles up to the window, where he can whisper to Talbert without being seen by other people inside.

Floriana suddenly grips Talbert's arm, and hisses, "There's sparks! And... fire! Moving towards us!"

[7thsea] GM says, "Not at all if you want to break it; harder if you want to keep it intact."
Penelope takes a deep breath, and announces, "Everyone out! Right now. Carry those who can't walk. And follow me. NOW." She hopes she sounds no-nonsense enough that everyone will do as she says, especially Tristand who presumably was in the loop earlier.
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "If I had more time, I'd want it intact, but given the signal we just heard, breaking it is probably good enough."

GM exclaims, "All over the building, people are emerging from doors in surprise, mostly not really noticing the line of patients going down the hallway in favor of looking at the fire at the end of the hall. Some of the officers start barking orders and the chaos increases!"
DonMiguel scrambles out of the crawlspace just before a chunk of flaming debris lands in the space he was just occupying. He grabs a small piece of it and -- as everyone else in the camp is making a direct route *toward* the explosions, takes an *indirect route away from them.
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "To refresh my memory: did the room with the strange instruments have a window, or was the window in an adjacent room?"
GM says (to DonMiguel), "You look around and see the servant from earlier. He waves and point at the forest to your left."

[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Still in The Mask.)"
Fulgencio exclaims, "El Vago! Ha, you couldn't possibly comprehend what's going on. You play around the edges, but the Tide will know true power!"
DonMiguel asks, "Couldn't comprehend? Why don't you try me?"
Fulgencio grins. "Nice try. Now let me go. We both oppose the Montaignians. That should be enough."
DonMiguel shakes his head. "Not yet. You'll need to explain some things first. I don't like people going around behind my back."
Fulgencio leers at you as if he had the upper hand, which is weird, because he clearly does not.
DonMiguel asks, "You can talk now, or you can talk later. What's your choice?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I'm thinking of tying him up, blindfolding him, and then bringing him to some basement where we can interrogate him more conveniently."
Fulgencio sighs. "If you won't let me go because we share an enemy, then you are also our enemy, and I will tell you nothing.
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Not 'interrogate', just interrogate.)"
[Crows-Nest] Penelope says, "Boo. Go ahead, break some fingers. He deserves it."
DonMiguel asks, "You don't even know how you got hired for this job, do you?"
DonMiguel says, "Or how they decided who would be killed in that attack."
Fulgencio listens.
DonMiguel says, "The Montaignes moved all of their best soldiers and doctors *out* of the infirmary ahead of the bombing."
DonMiguel says, "They knew exactly what you were going to do. They were involved in *planning* it."
DonMiguel says, "The only ones who were going to be killed tonight were the few members of their company who were actually sympathetic to Castille."
DonMiguel asks, "So which side do you think you're really on?"
Fulgencio grins some more. "Oh? How interesting."
Fulgencio says, "OK, you got me. I'm on nobody's side but my own. And if you're done moralizing at me, I'll be on my way."
DonMiguel asks, "I offer you the same choice: talk now or talk later. Which is it to be?"
Fulgencio says, "Hmm, let's see, how about never? You see, I know something you don't know:"
Fulgencio says, "Penelope owes me some favors. Tell her I'm calling one of them in."
GM exclaims, "Dramatic chord! Fade to black!"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Depending on what he's about to say, I recommend that Ricco be in the woods somewhere watching-- Oh."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Well!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Oho."
[7thsea] GM says, "(Penelope has the 'Obligation' background, which means you all get 3 XP this session again!)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Woo!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Yay/oh no"
[7thsea] GM says, "(I asked ggg if she was OK with the Obligation being to Fulgencio, and she said eek/sure.)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Hee."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I assume we'll want them to have that interaction face to face, rather than through Miguel as an intermediary."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Next session, I mean.)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "This was fun! (in spite of the planning wobble)"
[7thsea] GM asks, "I don't have anything in particular to add to that interaction; I'm happy to elide it, unless Penelope would like to explore it a bit more?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Maybe!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I guess you have a couple weeks to think about it :)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Indeed"
[7thsea] GM asks, "Other than that, DonM mentioned wanting to search the arc around the church to find the larger sorcery activity. And you all were trying to get recruited into the Tide. Anything else?"
[7thsea] GM says, "(And the predicted event in three days)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "(sounds good! anyway: thanks again and goofnight)"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Goodnight!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Sounds right to me."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Also, is my math right, and we've collected 32XP so far?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Incidentally, depending on what he wants, I'm happy to try to reject it and let him become a nemesis :D"
[7thsea] GM says, "I admit that I have not been keeping track! I thought about putting it on that spreadsheet, but didn't."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I count 30, but maybe"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "13 sessions plus 4 background XP"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks (of Penelope), "Are you counting the background stuff from today and last week?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Er, last session."
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "I was, but I could still be two short?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "My notes say that my artifact came up three times, Talbert's romance twice, and your obligation once."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Well then! 32"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "But I didn't write down which sessions those things happened in."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "So I could be wrong."
[7thsea] GM says, "Let's go with 32, then."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "That gives me 5 left over XP :D"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Woo!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "hoo!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "I'm thinking I might want to boost my Resolve. That's 3XP * new level, right?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "5*level"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Er, right, that's what I meant. Thanks."
[7thsea] GM says, "Oh, and if anyone wants a knack added to a skill block they thing it should go with, let me know and we can probably add it. I've already done that once for DonM."
[7thsea] GM says, "(I think with lockpicking or something like that?)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Sounds about right."
npc1 goes home.
npc1 has disconnected.
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Adding it to Spy.)"
npc2 goes home.
npc2 has disconnected.
Talbert hops into the DeLorean and heads off to the future.
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Yeah, I'm boosting Resolve. I want to be able to handle more dramatic wounds."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(And to run without getting winded.)"
