[CCrusaders] Bert says, "Log on."

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Are we just waiting on Wanda?"

Roger has arrived.

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Oh, right, we're starting with my speech that I had thought about writing out beforehand."

[CCrusaders] Roger says, "oh I could be around for this! Although I remember very little."

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "woo!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks (of Roger), "Do you have your character sheet somewhere?"

[CCrusaders] Roger asks, "uhhhhhh maybe on the wiki?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Neat! Can anyone help fill him in on where things stand?"

[CCrusaders] Eben | https://stirgessuck.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/zircon1.pdf

[CCrusaders] GM says, "https://stirgessuck.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/zircon1.pdf"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "HA ha"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to Roger), "Actually, I'm starting the session with a recap for Santa Claus anyway."

[CCrusaders] Roger exclaims, "thanks!!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks (of GM), "Should I do my exposition dump now?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Let's give Wanda a few more minutes."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Unless you want to give a separate OOC dump now.)"

[CCrusaders] Roger says, "you're fighting, what, Bobby Null and the Cancel Culture or something"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to Roger), "We're fighting Krampus, and trying to recruite Santa, because we think he's also here to fight him."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(it's just after"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(it's just after Thanksgiving)"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Hmm. Peregrine may have forgotten. If he's not here by 2:15, should we start without him and hope he comes in late?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Maybe, yeah."

[CCrusaders] Roger asks, "okay. Has the Black Peter made an appearance yet?"

[CCrusaders] Roger says, "sorry I didn't think that would be a hard question"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Ha."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I'm actually typing up my recap. But no! And I don't know who Black Peter is."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "oh he's like Krampus' little problematic helper elf"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "okay presumably I've been on world tour or lost in time or space or something"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "or all those people who wanted a piece of me finally got all the pieces of me"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "A problematic helper elf named Black Peter makes me think he goes around in blackface kidnapping kids."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "so you have heard of him"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims (at GM), "I have my recap!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks (of Zircon), "Wait, really?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "OK, let's go ahead and start."

GM exclaims, "Welcome back to our next issue of Crownsford Crusaders!"

GM says, "Last time, after investigating a mysterious lightning strike and fighting a gang of toy robots, you followed reclusive billionaire Nick Bishop from the airport to his hotel and dramatically confronted him."

GM says, "This week, we resume our story in the Mr. Bishop's grand hotel suite. The sitting area is lavishly decorated, armed security agents are positioned at all the exits, and the man himself is seated comfortably on a couch, waiting to hear what you have to say."

[CCrusaders] Zircon exclaims, "yes really!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Ha, wow."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Spoiler: there will be no blackface in this story.)"

Eben takes a deep breath. "So!"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Blackface, yes. It's a Dutch thing, and he's actually a companion of St. Nicholas, not Krampus. So less on the kidnapping :)"

Eben says (to Nick), "My friends and I are the Crowsfield Crusaders; we work for the police department and try to help with all the crazy things that happen around here, like when supervillains try to take over, or we get visited by aliens from Jupiter."

Eben says, "We were asked by the commissioner to try to keep you safe and out of trouble, since when you visited Vegas, you got hurt, and their police department was embarrassed."

Eben says, "But frankly, I don't really care about that. Because, just like Vegas, there's a bigger problem: kids are disappearing all over town."

Eben says, "And I think instead of us keeping you out of trouble, that we should work together. Because we're pretty sure that the person kidnapping kids is Krampus, and that you're Santa. I didn't know you had a rivalry, but it makes sense in retrospect."

Eben says, "Not only that, but we've also uncovered evidence that the Shadow Realm cult we fought before is still active, and may be working with Krampus, or at least thinking about it, or trying to take advantage of the situation."

Eben says, "And the last kid who disappeared did so from lighting? Which didn't sound very Krampus-y? I vaguely feel like that might be the work of Hydrolyx, a water-based supervillain we almost convinced to turn good or at least not be evil, but then was transformed into something else, from a combination of an science experiment gone wrong and our own actions, which I still feel bad about."

Bishop says, "That's quite a story."

[Crows-Nest] Jacob says, "We're gonna find out that Mr. Bishop is just a normal human, andhe's very confused and thinks you're crazy."

[Crows-Nest] Eben says, "Hee."

Eben exclaims, "It is!"

Bishop says, "What makes you think that I'm Santa Claus? Or that there's such a thing as a 'Krampus'?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "So I would have turned back into a human at the end of the scene/beginning of this one, but I would have stayed out of sight long enough to not be part of this conversation unless you feel you need me."

Eben says, "We went to the site of where one of the kids disappeared, and found some [ ] which is apparently a sign of the guy, according to, um, Wikipedia."

[Crows-Nest] Eben asks, "I forget what [ ] is. Bells? Silver cords?"

[Crows-Nest] Jacob says, "silver branches!"

Eben says, "^[ ]^silver branches"

[Crows-Nest] (from Jacob) Bishop says, "Actually, I just like kidnapping kids."

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "you're not going to force me to watch the Krampus movie are you"

Bishop says, "Interesting. I don't know how likely all of this is, but if there are children who have been abducted, I'd be happy to help however I can."

[Crows-Nest] Jacob asks, "There's only one?"

Eben says, "And the fact that you're visiting here just like you visited Vegas, when they were losing kids, makes me think you're involved. But you live at the north pole and donate a lot to children's charities, so we figure you're on the opposite side."

Eben says, "May I ask what happened in Vegas? Nobody seems to know."

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "This seems like a good opportunity for a Rapport overcome!"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "OK!"

Eben rolls Great (4) + 4dF: 0 +1 +1 +1 | Epic (7)

GM rolls Good (3) + 4dF: -1 -1 -1 +1 | Average (1)

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "You succeed with style!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "ho ho ho"

GM says, "Mr. Bishop looks uncomfortable."

[CCrusaders] Eben takes the boost 'really good story'.

GM says, "Henson, take your team out into the hallway. Jameson, bring your agents outside to keep an eye from the street. There were some suspicious birds flying around earlier. It could be significant."

GM says, "The black-suited agents file out, until it's just you and Nick in the room."

Eben says, "Oh, the birds are with us, sorry."

Eben exclaims, "But good eye!"

Bishop says, "Ah."

Bishop says, "You're right. I was trying to find those missing kids."

Eben nods.

Bishop says, "It's not something I try to make public, so I ask for your discretion in this. But there is a creature out there, and I did encounter it, and I was badly injured."

Eben says, "Absolutely."

Bishop says, "I believe it's here in Crownsford now, and I'm trying to track it down. If you want to help, all the better."

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Jacob), "Meanwhile, if you're still outside, you see a small team of black suited agents take up positions on the sidewalk. Some of them are keeping an eye on the skies."

Jacob lurks conspiciously. Oh no.

Eben says, "What can you tell us about it? Because yes."

Bishop says, "It's about seven feet tall and covered in long shaggy fur. It has horns, hoofed feet, and clawed hands."

Bishop pauses for a moment, as though unsure whether or not to continue, but then goes on:

Bishop says, "It also has a large, ragged sack that appears to be magical. That's what it uses to abduct the children."

[CCrusaders] GM asks (of Jacob), "You *also* see a familiar flock of hungry seagulls overhead. Would you accept a compel on your Eyes in the Skies to be beset by birds?"

Eben asks, "I don't suppose you know anything about the nature of the sack? Do you think it's some sort of portal?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Yes!"

Eben says, "As you saw, portals are kind of my thing."

Bishop says, "Something like that. I think in scientific terms, you might describe it as a kind of 'pocket dimension'? Essentially, it's much bigger on the inside than it is on the outside."

GM says, "Meanwhile, outside on the street:"

Eben says, "Oh, fascinating."

GM exclaims, "A flock of seagulls descends on Jacob!"

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "and he ran, he ran so far away"

Gulls says, "JACOB! FOOD! WE DID IT! CHIPS NOW! FEED US! JACOB PROMISED FOOD!"

Jacob says, "Oh. Oh no. Not NOW." Jacob kind of tries to hide awkwardly behind a bush. "Shhhhh."

GM says, "This is not unnoticed by the armed agents who *also* descend on you, arranging themselves to approach from either side."

Jacob pulls out some packets of vending machine crisps and pours them onto the ground at his feet. "Share!"

Jacob says, "Oh. Uh. Hey, guys."

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to Jacob), "Now offer vending machine crisps to the guards."

Jameson says, "Well, well. It looks like those birds weren't just a coincidence after all."

Jacob asks, "Chips?"

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "they prefer cookies"

Gulls says, "NO SHARE! MORE CHIPS! MORE FOOD!"

Jacob says, "That was my last bag!"

Jameson says, "I think our boss might like to have a word with you. Woul you mind coming inside with us?"

GM says, "You notice their hands are resting on their holsters threateningly."

Jacob says, "Uhhhhh. Sure. Uh. Sorry, guys. I gotta go." (addressing the birds in the second time)"

GM says (to Eben and Zircon), "A few moments later, there's a knock at the door."

Jacob makes awkward conversation, "Y'all got vending machines in this hotel?

Jameson's voice says, "We found the avian instigator, sir. Would you like to see him?"

Bishop says, "Yes. Send them in."

[CCrusaders] Zircon asks, "wait am I there?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Unless you don't want to be?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon exclaims, "I can be!"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(I'm assuming that you're just hand-wavily around and didn't happen to say much last time, for convenience.)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "sure that works for me"

GM says, "And the door opens to reveal Jacob."

Jacob says, "Oh!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to Zircon), "I imagine you tracked down Mr. Bishop separately."

Eben exclaims (at Jacob), "Hi, Jacob!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "yeah I can dig it"

Eben says (to Bishop), "That's our bird guy."

Jacob says, "Hey, y'all." He turns to look at the guards. "I'm with them!"

Bishop says, "Aha. Come on in. I'm Nicholas Bishop, as you probably already know."

Jacob presumably sees that you're sitting comfortably and chatting as opposed to like.. in danger, so he relaxes some.

GM says, "The guards close the door behind Jacob (remaining outside to give Mr. Bishop privacy)."

[CCrusaders] Jacob asks, "What does Bishop look like?"

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "Bishop isn't even a reserved name any more? Hunh"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Like do I see someone who could reasonably be Santa, or would I be like "HIM?""

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Because I am going to say something awkward either way."

GM says, "Mr. Bishop has white hair and a beard. He looks to be in his fifties, perhaps. His skin is tan, and his eyes are dark. He's wearing a well-tailored blue suit with a red tie. He seems friendly enough and much less threatening than his employees."

[Crows-Nest] Jacob says, "There's an NPC object. The actual Bishop claims to be currently logged in."

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "too magical for my blood"

Jacob asks, "Oh, hey. You're Santa, right?"

Bishop chuckles. "I get that a lot." He glances at Eben. "Especially today."

Eben grins.

Zircon asks, "Not to put too fine a point on it, sir, but these kidnapped children... are they, as we say, 'naughty'?"

Bishop says, "That's... a matter of opinion. I don't like to judge people that way. But I think a case could be made for 'yes'."

Eben says, "I mean, I haven't met a kid who wasn't, to some degree."

Bishop says, "Exactly."

Bishop says, "So, I've shared information with you. Do you have any information that can help me?"

Eben says, "We have locations of where the kids disappeared. We personally visted one of them, where we found the silver branches."

Bishop says, "That could be helpful. I only have partial data on that, myself. Let me see here..."

Eben also fills in more details about the shadow portal in that spot, and the lightning/toy fight.

Bishop goes over to a closed suitcase with an electronic lock on it. He enters a code and opens it up, then unpacks a folded-up easel and a large map with he sets up on it.

Eben says, "I think I could give your security detail a program for their phones that might help them locate more of those portals, too."

GM says, "You immediately recognize it as a map of Crownsford. Nick flips through a notebook and starts adding colored pushpins to the map."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "not to play my cards to close to my chest: I'm unusually obsequious, even for me. In whatever magical second sight that I might have, this guy is just lit up like, well, a Christmas tree"

Bishop says, "Where did you say those locations were?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Hee."

Eben starts to ramble a bit, "If the sack is indeed a pocket dimension, that would put a strain on the reality it sits in. The vibrations from it moving might be detectable with the right sensors, and... oh, sorry, right.

Eben pulls up a list of locations on his phone, and reads them out.

GM says, "Some of those are locations that Nick has already added to his map. Others are new."

Zircon says, "Perhaps it just shrinks everything that goes into it. Hard to distinguish between the two effects."

Eben asks, "How did you find out about those locations?"

Eben says (to Zircon), "True, but that would emit its own signature, which would mean recalibrating..."

Zircon takes (another) look at a silver branch.

Bishop=Syndicated = says, " the Syndicated North Trading Conglomerate, LLC, that is -- owns several large information technology companies. I have access to a great deal of data on the Internet."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Ack, whoops."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "We got it ;-)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "we can read GM"

Bishop says, "This is all very interesting, but it's hard to tell whether these are all connected, or if some of them might be coincidental."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I'm assuming the branches have some sort of classical magical correspondance, but I could roll for it if it hasn't already been established."

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "It has not!"

GM asks (of Zircon), "Hmm, what sort of thing do you have in mind?"

Zircon says, "Well I mean they could be ash, or rowan, or maybe just local flora, or you know whatevs"

GM says (to Zircon), "Ah, then let's try a +2 Lore Overcome."

Eben asks (of Bishop), "Oh, when you were injured, how did that happen? Was it just the creature's claws and hooves, or did it seem to have other special abilities?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "oh good I managed to give myself no Lore whatsoever. But I do have a +2 Lore stunt which looks applicable"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "OK!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Ha."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "how is fate dice roll formed"

Bishop says, "It was the claws that got me. They're quite nasty. And it's difficult to fight back against it: with those legs, the thing is as agile as a mountain goat."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "'fudge +2'"

Zircon rolls Fair (2) + 4dF: +1 0 0 +1 | Great (4)

Eben nods.

GM says (to Zircon), "You do recognize a certain pattern of black lines on the twig: thise doesn't look like an ordinary branch that you might find anywhere. It's a special breed that was prized by druids and other sages for its deep connection to the primal forces of nature."

[Setting the zoned flag.]

Zircon relays all that to Mr. Bishop, on the very off-chance he doesn't already know all that.

[CCrusaders] GM says, "A couple sessions ago, Jacob asked about trying to Investigate the data about the missing kids to look for patterns, and I suggested that was something that would take time, and should be rolled for at the end of that."

Zircon says, "...and so, yeah, earth magic and such."

[CCrusaders] Jacob asks, "Oh yes. Did I have time between that moment and this moment?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I figured not"

Eben immediately translates this to scientific terms in his head, which mostly makes it slightly wrong.

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Now that you have Mr. Bishop's map, with the pushpins and string and your copies of the reports, this might be a perfect time for the culmination for that analysis!"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Yay, ok one sec"

Zircon looks at the map, from this angle and that.

[CCrusaders] GM says, "It's a +5 Investigate overcome, and since you have the map to visually analyze, you know what that means."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Super senses? :D"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Exactly!"

Jacob rolls Legendary (8) + 4dF: -1 -1 0 0 | Fantastic (6)

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Jeez"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Do you want to narrate your process, or shall I?"

Jacob is just kind of staring at the map, eyes darting back and forth, and suddenly he's like "A ha!"

Zircon nods knowingly but not really.

GM exclaims, "You discover several things!"

GM says, "First, two of the missing kids don't seem to fit the pattern. One is Patrick Peterson, from the electrical disturbance yesterday. The other is a teenage girl, Melissa Humbert. You suspect that their disappearances might have some other cause."

GM says, "The second is that the shadow portal doesn't seem to be connected to the pattern of missing children at all. It might be a complete coincidence."

GM says, "But the third, perhaps most important thing is that... you have a pretty good guess as to more or less when and where the Krampus is going to strike next."

Jacob relays these things to the group.

Eben says (to Jacob), "That's amazing; good work."

Zircon says, "I might guess plain old stupid mundane child abductions don't take a holiday just because this guy is doing his thing."

GM says, "The little circle Jacob has drawn on the map in red marker, in southern downtown Crownsford, late this afternoon, around dusk."

Eben says, "Or kids running away from home."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Does the name Melissa Humbert ring any bells?"

Zircon says, "Sure, same same. Running away to join the circus worked out just fine for me! Relatively speaking."

Bishop says, "Astounding. I can't say I can follow your logic, but if it's true..."

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Nope!"

Jacob says, "I wouldn't cal the Peterson disappearance "Mundane", but sure."

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Zircon), "The Peterson house was struck by lightning, which left Patrick's mother in an electrical coma and turned his toy robots into a little army of electrical mayhem."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "oh that old thing"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Hee"

Bishop says, "You can expect me to be there. Can I count on you to help?"

Jacob says, "Of course!"

Eben asks (of Jacob), "Do the abductions seem to be opportunistic, like, he grabs whatever kid he can find there? Or do they seem to be targetted against particular kids?"

Zircon asks, "Yes... there. And erm where is there again?"

Eben says, "If the former, we could disguise someone as a kid, and if the latter, we need to find them."

Zircon says, "Oh, downtown! Yes of course"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "It would appear that it's patrolling those areas like a hunting animal."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "There's still some middle ground between "any kid" and "kid with specific attributes" there, though"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Yeah."

Eben asks (of Bishop), "Do you think that if an adult dressed up as a kid, might that attract it? Or is there an inherent, uh, 'smell' or something, associated with kids that did something wrong?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon asks, "can I remember any sort of festival or event or anything that might be happening downtown at around that time?"

Bishop says, "It doesn't seem terribly intelligent. I think it could work."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "That's a good thing to roll for! Uh. Let me check the list of skills..."

Eben asks (of Zircon), "Could you illusion me as a kid?"

Zircon says, "But of course! 'Tis... child's play. Aha, aha ha, haa"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "This kind of local knowledge seems like it might almost be a Contacts thing."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "That makes sense."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "sure, I know carny sorts and such"

Zircon rolls Good (3) + 4dF: 0 +1 0 +1 | Superb (5)

Zircon furrows his brow a moment.

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "+2 opposition, and you succeed with style!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I probably Know a Guy working there! whatever it is"

[CCrusaders] GM asks (of Zircon), "There *is* an event nearby around that time! What is it?"

Zircon says, "But of course! That's the annual Thanksgiving Clam-Fest, a huge hit with all the kids these days."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Ha ha snrk"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "And that clamfest is just a few blocks from the spot Jacob marked on the map. There'll be loads of kids walking through that circle on their way to or from the fest."

Zircon says, "My good pal Agatha Snork will surely have her face-painting booth set up"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "OK, so plan! If I'm the bait, I want to actually get put into the sack, since that's where the kids are. Ideally, I'd then open a portal to let everyone out; I'll put an orange portal in a nearby alley; if that seems bad at the time, I'll open my orange portal back in my basement instead."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I guess I should say that out loud."

Eben says, "OK, so plan! If I'm the bait, I want to actually get put into the sack, since that's where the kids are. [CCrusaders] Zircon says, "sure, make me disguise our oldest member as a young child"

Zircon says, "The good news is that seagulls /love/ the Clam-Fest"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Hee."

GM asks, "Do you want to skip ahead to dusk?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Sure"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "yeah if we can retro-actively 'oh yeah I prepared this thing beforehand' sorta stuff"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Can I have Jacob help me Investigate pocket dimensions between now and then?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks (of Eben), "Yes! What in particular are you trying to do?"

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Zircon), "If it's reasonable, sure."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "how not to turn children inside out with portals"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Ha"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to GM), "The main thing I want to know is if I'd need to do something different with my portals to get out of it. Secondarily, I would like to know if their movement through normal space produces a signature that can be tracked."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Those both seem like science-analysis-y things, would would fall under Will overcomes! Both at +4, since this is pretty out there stuff."

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "OK!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to Jacob), "Do you have Will? I have it at 2."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I have a +3"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "If you're up for it, then, I'll assist your roll, bumping it to a +4"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Sounds good"

Jacob rolls Great (4) + 4dF: 0 0 -1 +1 | Great (4)

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "Four is a success with a minor cost, so hey!"

GM asks, "A tie! Do you want to keep it as a tie?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Yeah, sure. Let's see what happens :)"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Perhaps it takes a long time, and we can't research my second question?"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "That's a great cost!"

GM says, "You figure out that yes, you'll definitely need to tweak your portals somehow to get out of a pocket dimension. You're pretty sure it's within your abilities, but you won't know the exact tweaks you need to make until you get there."

Eben stuffs a few extra bits of equipment in his pocket that he thinks might be helpful.

GM says, "But at least you can bring along the right tools, and you know what sort of thing to expect, which will reduce the opposition for it."

Zircon discusses security-ish things with Bishop's head of security.

Bishop stops Zircon. "Wait. They don't know the situation, and I'd prefer to keep it that way."

Zircon says, "But of course."

Bishop says, "As far as they know, I'm just their eccentric boss on an unplanned trip. I don't want rumors to start spreading about me being some kind of monster hunter."

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Shall we jump to the event?"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "OK by me!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I am good with that."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Yup"

GM exclaims, "The four of you meet up in downtown Crownsford, not far from the clambake!"

GM says, "This is the area that Jacob marked on the map, as seen from above: https://jamboard.google.com/d/1PIDUnDSZtpCB8aCR1Z03euCZaNy-BkNifWY24TWonYg/viewer?f=0"

GM says, "Clamtastic Seafood is all abuzz with people preparing extra clams to deliver to the fest."

Zircon asks (of Eben), "Have you PREPARED yourself to be TRANSFORMED into the likeness of a small child??"

Eben exclaims, "Golly, mister, I sure have!"

Zircon waves his hands around dramatically, as one does.

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I'd like to use Deceive for this sort of thing"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "That is indeed canonical."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "You won't need to roll until someone tries to take a close look at Eben."

Zircon says, "and VIOLA! BEHOLD, a young child! Who is okay a bit more wrinkly than one might expect, because of MAGIC"

Jacob lol.

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "oh well there it is"

Eben exclaims, "Hey, I'm a hooligan again!"

Zircon says, "now you settle down young man"

Eben exclaims, "I, uh, mean for the first time! Because I was definitely a good kid!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I just looked at the aspect list, and am greatly amused by 'pervasive odor of clams'."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "yeah even I am not sure where 'Clam-Fest' came from, but I'm sure happy it did"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(oh, hey: is my Severe consequence no longer taking up the Severe spot on my sheet? It's just that I still have it? Or is it blocking that spot still?)"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "It blocks it until it fully heals, yeah"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "It's blocking that spot until the end of the Scenario."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Got it; thanks."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Which is longer than a Session but shorter than an Arc.)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon asks, "I got something with style for that invention of Clam-Fest, didn't I?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "or is that just all this"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Yes! And that gets you a boost, if you can make use of it soon enough."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "okay thanks"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Which would get you +2 on a roll if it's sufficiently related to the ClamFest realization.)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "Krampus, ancient diety of clams of course"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Does everyone want to place themselves (and Bishop, since he'll happily cooperate with you) on the map?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "deity too, but also diet-y"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I dunno I'm kinda with everyone else, probably, walking down the street towards Clam-Fest"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to GM), "I'm going to be moving, but be mostly in the alleys."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I'm thinking I'll, like, pretend to pickpocket another PC and then run away laughing."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Ooh, fun."

[CCrusaders] Zircon exclaims, "hey my doves!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Are you Jacob?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Haha"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "So it's Zircon getting his pocket picked? We'll put you both into an alley, then."

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Where's Jacob at the time?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "If I wanted to get onto a roof without being a bird, is that doable? Or presumably no because of locked doors."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "Lil Ebven"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "there's fire escapes, right there"

[Crows-Nest] Jacob says, "I just like the idea of perching like a gargoyle on a roof :D"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Good point"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Indeed! Which roof would you like?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "And should Mr. Bishop be with Jacob, or do you want to be alone?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Maybe the convenience store, so I can see in all directions from the top. And sure, that's fine. I can be awkward at him."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "dang that really is a convenient store"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "OK! Put on your pickpocketing play, and then one of you can roll Deceive with the other one's help, to see if it works!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says (to Eben), "It's more you than me, I'd suggest"

Eben runs up to Zircon and snatches a brightly-colored handkerchief out of his pocket!

Eben exclaims, "Ha, ha! Too slow, old guy!"

Zircon slaps both hands to either side of his face!

Eben runs into the alley.

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "BRB, I think"

Zircon exclaims, "I say, you scallywag!"

Zircon shakes a fist in one's general direction.

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(my Deceive is 3)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I assist with my +4"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "If we both have high-ish Deceives, maybe one of us can Create Advantage and the other can do the Overcome?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "If both of you have Deceive, then that gives a +1 to whichever of you is making the roll."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "cmon Eben make that roll"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "OK, fine ;-)"

Eben rolls Great (4) + 4dF: -1 +1 0 0 | Great (4)

GM rolls Good (3) + 4dF: +1 +1 -1 +1 | Superb (5)

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Before we decide the result of the roll, does anyone want to tag anything?"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "I will spend a fate point!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "OK! What Aspect are you applying?"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Wait, no, I should tag one of the many many aspects."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I will tag 'Pervasive Odor of Clams' to say that we have more believably-scowly faces from the smell ;-)"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Back"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Then you succeed!"

GM exclaims (at Jacob), "You see movement from the roof of the apartment building across the alley!"

GM exclaims, "Everyone, roll initiative!"

GM clears the initiative.

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "what's that again"

GM rolls Good (3) + 4dF: +1 -1 0 +1 | Great (4)

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Yes!"

Jacob sets her current fate point total to 4.

Eben sets their current fate point total to 2.

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "fp set 2"

Zircon sets his current fate point total to 3.

GM advances the initiative: EBEN(5) Krampus(4) Jacob(1) Zircon(-1)

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "thanks again"

GM exclaims, "Eben is first!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "I think I'll do a Create Advantage for something like 'fast runner'? With Physique?"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Get me some momentum to do whatever-it-is-that-comes-next."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "I think that would fall under Athletics. +2 opposition."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "dang look at those little legs go"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Oh, Athletics yeah."

Eben rolls Fair (2) + 4dF: +1 +1 -1 +1 | Great (4)

Eben runs away quickly!

Eben advances the initiative: Eben(5) KRAMPUS(4) Jacob(1) Zircon(-1)

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Are you changing your location on the map?"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Oh, right, hang on."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "I feel like I'm probably already in the right zone, I guess?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Sure, that's fine. So you're just running from one end of the zone to the other, or whatever."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Right."

GM exclaims, "A tall, hairy creature leaps down from the roof of the apartment building to land beside Eben!"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "BRB, sorry"

GM asks (of Eben), "It tries to grab you -- do you resist?"

Eben shrieks!

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I don't! Unless it tries to stab me or something."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Sorry, there was a child rummaging around in the fridge :P But it's being handled."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Heh."

Eben drops the handkerchief which floats sadly down and falls in a puddle.

GM exclaims (at Eben), "The creature is as Nick Bishop described: shaggy hair all over, with hoofed feet, clawed hands, and horns on its head. It's carrying a ragged, dirty, ragged brown sack, which it stuffs you into!"

GM says, "Inside, it's completely dark. You land on something lumpy and unconformtable which immediately starts crying."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "the plan worked okay bye"

[Crows-Nest] Jacob says, "We never liked him anyway."

Eben exclaims, "Sorry, kid! You OK? Are there others here? I'm here to get you out!"

GM says, "The Krampus suddenly looks at Zircon, realizing that he's seen the whole thing."

GM advances the initiative: Eben(5) Krampus(4) JACOB(1) Zircon(-1)

GM exclaims, "Jacob!"

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Eben), "(We'll continue the conversation on your next turn.)"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(sure)"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I don't know what would be helpful here. There's probably some sort of advantage to be created."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Birds to swarm Mr. K?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "That's so stereotypical. I do more than bird swarms ;)"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "But yes, probably."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Hee"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "swarm of clams"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Alt: bird observation network to make sure he doesn't get away?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Going with a swarm, because that's always fun, and they allow me attacks using rapport."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Or have in the past, I think"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Sounds good to me! +2 Overcome to summon a swarm!"

Jacob rolls Legendary (8) + 4dF: +1 0 -1 +1 | Legendary+1 (9)

[CCrusaders] GM says, "That is a swarm indeed."

Jacob calls out to the birds dotting the trees and telephone lines.

Jacob says, "Stop that beast!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Do you want to add them as a character on the map?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Is that in the Street zone?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(I'll assume yes unless I hear otherwise.)"

GM advances the initiative: Eben(5) Krampus(4) Jacob(1) ZIRCON(-1)

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Zircon!"

Zircon thinks, "Gosh he's big."

Zircon exclaims, "Smoke bomb!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(does Bishop get an action, or should we treat him as a poential bonus to assist us when we do a thing?)"

Zircon says, "(between him and I)"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "The latter."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Got it."

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims (at Zircon), "OK! This is exactly the sort of thing that the 'declare a story detail' use of fate points applies to!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "So if you spend a fate point, then you've got a smoke bomb that you've been carrying. Are you using it to create an aspect?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I was thinking alley, right on top of Krampus"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "If that's a different zone from street"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "alright I spend that FP and tag my Illusionist high concept, if that helps. And yeah I guess that can be an Aspect, or maybe an Obstacle, or whatnot"

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Jacob), "That works."

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Zircon), "(Trying to figure out what skill that should be...)"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Will or Athletics seem most apropos to me."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Yeah, let's call it Will, +2 opposition."

Wanda has left.

Wanda has arrived.

[CCrusaders] Zircon asks, "okay! do I get the +2 from the FP or does that just let me do it?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "That just lets you do it."

Zircon rolls Average (1) + 4dF: +1 -1 0 -1 | Mediocre (0)

Zircon says, "behold... SMOKE BOMB! pppffffsssshhhhh"

Zircon says, "Oh no it's getting in my eyes it burns"

Wanda rolls Good (3) + 4dF: -1 +1 0 0 | Good (3)

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Ooh. That creates an Aspect which the Krampus can tag against you if it wants!"

Wanda registers Wanda at init 3.

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "sure that sounds much like Zircon"

[CCrusaders] GM asks (of Wanda), "Do you want to take your turn now retroactively, or do you want to wait until you come up in the next round?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda exclaims, "I'll take it now!"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "OK! Place yourself on the map (https://jamboard.google.com/d/1PIDUnDSZtpCB8aCR1Z03euCZaNy-BkNifWY24TWonYg/viewer?f=0) and tell me what you're doing!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "How does Krampus look?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "It's seven feet tall, covered in long, shaggy hair, and has horns, clawed hands and hoofed feet. It's carrying a large tattered brown sack."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Into which Eben -- whom Zircon used his illusions to isguise as a child -- was just stuffed.)"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Would you say it has enough of a mind that I can order it to drop the bag? using INFLUENCE"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "I would."

[CCrusaders] Wanda exclaims, "Yay!"

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "good thing he's not built like a kangaroo"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims (at Wanda), "RP and roll at will!"

Wanda begins to ominously emerge from the edge of the roof, her eyes glowing red as she begins to climb down the wall towards Krampus. Everyone who sees this can feel an echo of searing white heat in their minds as she commands DROP THE BAG telepathically to Krampus.

Wanda rolls Great (4) + 4dF: 0 -1 -1 0 | Fair (2)

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "I'm going to tag things"

GM rolls Fair (2) + 4dF: +1 0 +1 -1 | Good (3)

[CCrusaders] GM says, "I should acknowledge that when Nick Bishop told you that it was only semi-intelligent, you can interpret that as its having the aspect Limited Intelligence."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Which doesn't have any free invokes, but is there if you want to tag or compel it.)"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Can I tag that with an fp?"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Yes!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "First:"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "I tag Trash Cans & Dumpsters for free, because my brainwaves are vibrating so intensely they're making them shake."

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "For the extra intimidation."

Wanda sets their current fate point total to 2.

Wanda spends a fate point, leaving them with 1.

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Then spend an fp on Limited Intelligence, I'm imposing my will"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "So that's 6 vs their 3"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "So either take 3 mental stress or do the task"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "That's an attack, which it's trying to resist. You can deal 3 mental stress, tag more to deal more stress, or reduce it to 2 stress to do success-with-style stuff."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(Like using a special effect.)"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "I take it you're choosing the first one?"

Krampus says, "RARRR NOOOO DROP BAG!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "I can do Forced Movement with my special effect, make it back away into the smoke? Would that be helpful? Otherwise I'm going with the first option"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "I think Forced Movement would generally be for putting it into a different zone."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Right now, *it* can tag the smoke for free, so probably not? Unless you can think of something?"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(also, yeah, that.)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "get into that dumpster, Krampy"

GM says, "The Krampus wails in mental anguish (checking off a three stress box)."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "you skipped Nick intentionally, right"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Yeah."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "cmon old man put down the cookies"

Eben is going to try to rally the kids inside the sack to pull together so he can help them get out of there. (I'm thinking Rapport overcome?)

[CCrusaders] GM says, "You're the protagonists; he's just there to assist you."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "lies, all lies"

GM says (to Eben), "OK! It's a stressful situation, so +4 opposition to calm them down."

Eben exclaims, "Hey, kids! It's going to be OK. I'm here to help!"

Eben rolls Great (4) + 4dF: 0 0 -1 -1 | Fair (2)

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Arr! OK, tagging something."

[Crows-Nest] Zircon says, "Eben is living that Hello, Fellow Kids meme with Steve Buscemi"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Do you want to tag anything, succeed at a cost, or...?"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Can I tag Bishop to help to tell them that Santa's helping me?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Hmm. Treating him as an Aspect? Sure."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(This doesn't prove whether or not he *is* canonically Santa, but that doesn't change whether or not the kids will believe it :) )"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "Right!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "So you succeed with a minor cost?"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Do I need to spend a fate point?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Yeah."

Eben spends a fate point, leaving them with 1.

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I feel compelled to point out that the Drawback of my illusory powers is that they don't work in darkness"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "And yeah, I think the cost might be that the kids calm down but kind of swarm me, making it more difficult to adjust my portal gun next time?"

Kid says, "You... you're Santa Claus? Really?"

Eben exclaims, "No, I'm working *with* santa claus! If you all calm down, maybe you can meet him!"

GM exclaims, "The kids calm down, but they seem to have misunderstood you. They believe that *you're* Santa Claus!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Oh, ha."

Zircon says, "oww my eyes oww my bones"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I succeeded with style earlier on my overcome which provides a boost, right? I'd think that would be useful to Zircon if need be."

GM says, "Which means that unless you tag something, you'll be taking five stress."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Hmm, I don't think you can use someone else's boost."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Oh, really? Hm"

Zircon spends a fate point, leaving him with 2.

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Although, didn't Zircon succeed with style on his information roll earlier, about the ClamFest?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon asks, "I could take 1 physical stress and also a Moderate consequence?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob | If you want, you can also allow another character to invoke your boost, if its relevant and could help them out.

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "https://fate-srd.com/fate-core/types-aspects"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "OK! Jacob is right!"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "You *can* use his boost!"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "And I'm fine with it, since the birds are there to hinder Krampus in whatever way is useful"

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Zircon), "If you're using his boost, you only have three stress to deal with. (And yes, you can use a consequence and a stress box together.)"

[CCrusaders] Zircon exclaims, "okay!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Do you have a three stress box, or are you taking a mild consequence?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "If Tale were here, he'd comment on the smoke and doves being very John Woo"

Zircon tries to dodge out of the way, but the smoke gets in his eyes. Krampus swings its mighty claws, taking out several pigeons along the way. He slashes through Zircon's shirt and leaves bloody scratches on his chest!

[CCrusaders] GM says, "He might also comment on Cuddlepaws' interest in smoked squab."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "so yeah that'll be 1/2 physical stress and Consequence: Bloodied"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "as a Mild consequence"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "I'm going to tag the Pervasive Odor of Clams and the sound of the Passing Traffic, because they're distracting him and making him less focused on your command."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "clams, my old nemesis"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Then I'll tag Dark Princess for a point (no explanation needed)"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Trying to think of a way to tag Fire Escapes for this."

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I was thinking about that earlier, I dunno"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Some of the birds that had landed on the roof use them to climb down to the alley."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "maybe his horns get entangled in them"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "Oh, I like it!"

[CCrusaders] Jacob asks, "He *is* 7 feet tall. Sure, that sound ok with the GM?"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "It does!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "So that puts you at how many stress? Seven?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "So that's a 14 to a 7, unless Krampus tags something. YuP!"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Name its Moderate Consequence!"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(And it also checks off a three physical stress box.)"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Mhm. Someone else name it, but I want it to relate to the birds."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Yup."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "OK: I'll stand with my feet spread out, and have the biggest kid stand opposite me with his feet spread out, so there's a rectangle of flat sack between us. Will that work?"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Yes! To coordinate the kids to assist will be a +4 Rapport overcome!"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "OK!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "the power of Santa Claus compels you"

Eben rolls Great (4) + 4dF: -1 -1 +1 0 | Good (3)

[CCrusaders] GM says, "I have a guess what you're tagging."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Tagging 'Adoped or not, you're allmy kids!' ;-)"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Yup :)"

[Crows-Nest] Wanda says, "You do realize these are all the naughty kids, right :D"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "You succeed!"

[Crows-Nest] Eben exclaims, "All kids are naughty kids!"

[Crows-Nest] Wanda exclaims, "True!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Separate roll for portal, or does it Just Work, with the difficult part being the flat creation?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "It Just Works, modulo tweaking it so it'll be safe from inside the pocket dimension, as you figured out you'd need to do earlier."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Also, I'm imagining getting all the kids through but the one that helped, then next round trying to jump out simultaneously."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "But you can do that on your next turn."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "No portal yet, then? OK."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Portal, yes. *Safe* portal, no."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "OK! ;-)"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "rp:"

Eben recognizes a somewhat older kid from the list of missing kids. "Jessica! I need your help. Stand right there, with your feet apart, across from me. I'm going to open a portal out of here between us. And kids! Be ready to jump through! My wife will be there on the other side to help!

Eben advances the initiative: Eben(5) KRAMPUS(4) Wanda(3) Jacob(1) Zircon(-1)

GM exclaims, "The Krampus looks around wildly, trying to find the source of the pain it its head. And it sees Wanda perched on the edge of the building next to it!"

[Crows-Nest] GM asks, "I think that's only for ranged attacks, not melle, right?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Yeah, projectiles I can see coming"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Is Krampus jumping at me a projectile?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I was about to suggest that :)"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "He'll take 2 stress from touching me, though"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "He will."

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "So, how are you absorbing that?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Does anyone have anything I can tag? Otherwise I'll have to tick a 3-stress and take a Moderate Consequence"

[CCrusaders] Jacob asks, "We've got a few untagged free things, including bushel of pecks. Maybe he's hindered by blood in his eyes?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda exclaims, "I'll tag bushel!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Bringing it to a 3-stress and a mild"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says (to JAcob), "Thank you so much for that ^^"

GM says, "When it leapt up, the Krampus used the fire escapes to pull itself up faster, giving it more momentum and force when it lunged at Wanda..."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "You could tag Bishop to help you."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "(Bishop is in the free-tag list anyway)"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Is Bishop a free tag?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "He is?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Yes?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "well someone put him there"

[CCrusaders] Wanda exclaims, "I'm confused!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "How did that happen?"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims (at Wanda), "Me too!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Are we playing it that Bishop is an each-round plus 2 to something if he helps?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "someone who wasn't me. I don't know! I'm new here"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(I had NPC helpers do that in my games; dunno if Jota was thinking of doing that here or not.)"

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Eben), "He can be a +1 assist (like the normal assist rules) if he's in a place where he can assist you in performing an action, and he's also an Aspect you can spend fate points to tag."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Got it."

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "So I'll accept the Moderate Consequence. What should it be called?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Can a non-GM compel something? I've got FP I could pass over in that case. I don't have any ideas yet, but checking first."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "Horny"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Santa Clawed?"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Lacerations?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I don't know if that's a thing, though."

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Jacob), "I'd allow it."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "owww I'm krampussing"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Everyone has to agree, but anyone can suggest."

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "I'm going with Santa Clawed (Moderate)"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "And yeah, if someone has a good enough compel to suggest, I'll compel her."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "I'm out of good ideas, anyway"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Or wait"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Does it still do damage if the attack doesn't succeed?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "It says if you attack, not if you deal damage"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "When it's that much below hitting, spending a lot of fp/tags usually isn't worth it, yeah."

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(unless you really need the hit right then)"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "OK, for now, we'll allow it. We can research later."

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "But wait, it says add 2 to result"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Especially because:"

[CCrusaders] Eben | Basic Harm: By maintaining skin-to-skin contact with another person for a moment, you deal them 2 physical stress. Additionally, when you attack a target using your bare hands, add 2 physical stress to result.

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "So 2 plus -3 = -1?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "That's probably not legal"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "I'll side with the GM on whatever ruling he prefers"

Krampus defends himself with great agility, using his claws both offensively and defensively. He gets close enough to her to be burned, but also to force her backward, flipping her over onto her back!

[CCrusaders] GM says, "For now, he gets to success with Style and uses it to inflict a condition: On Her Back! But in the process, he takes two stress from Harm."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Since it's a special effect, it's a full Aspect, not just a boost. If you want to get upright again, you'll have to use an Overcome."

GM exclaims, "With that result, all of the kids other than Jessica (who was helping you hold open the portal) can get through between now and your next turn!"

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Do you have the Inflict Condition special effect?"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "I do not! I was thinking of this as the success-with-style boost."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "That would be more of an Aspect than just a boost."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Now, that said..."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Do I need to apply the Forced Movement to get all the kids out, perhaps?"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "maybe 'Krampus doesn't notice all the kids leaving' could be the boost"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "You *do* have the Two Places at Once special effect, which would let you split your result between that and a second Crafts action..."

[CCrusaders] GM says, "For example, a Crafts action to Create Advantage, to create the Intrinsically Stable aspect."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Oh, I like it! Then yes, what would the TN for that be?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "The second one would also be +4. And you get an extra +1 when you do that, so you could split your +8 result into a +5 and a +4."

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "Giving you one full success and one success with a minor drawback, if you'd like?"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "Yes, let's do that."

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Excellent! Feel free to narrate, and if you'd like to pick your own minor drawback, you may!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "now looks like Santa Claus"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Perhaps Jessica Won't Leave My Side?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "(So you'll end up with just you and Jessica still inside the sack for now, but with the portal stabilized for your next turn.)"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims (at Eben), "Works for me!"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "OK, rp:"

Eben manages to tweak things exactly right, and the energies of the portal interlock with the energies of the pocket dimension sack perfectly so the portal is almost woven into the fabric of the sack itself. The kids all start jumping through into Eben's basement ("Honey! We have guests!"), and Jessica looks at Eben with shining eyes. "Santa! I want to work in *your* workshop!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "okay I'm sure you know what you're doing"

GM exclaims, "But instead, it stumbles into the edge of the roof and topples over, falling down toward the street below!"

GM says, "Normally, this would be *great* news, except for the fact that it's still holding the sack containing Eben and Jessica, which will hit the ground pretty hard at the same time the Krampus does."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Can you tag Blinded?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Or that!"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Oh, and Bishop can assist?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda exclaims, "I'll tag Blinded! He didn't see it coming!"

[CCrusaders] Zircon asks, "doesn't your human skin usually fall off at a time like this?"

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims (at Wanda), "OK! Narrate your success!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says (to Zircon), "I ditched it at the end of the last arc"

[CCrusaders] Eben says (to Zircon), "She's perma-spider at this point."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "oh! Okay carry on"

Bishop says, "You did it! It's dead again!"

Jacob asks, "Again?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "I need to bail in a moment, if we've got wrap-up to do."

Bishop says, "That's right. It won't come back again until next year, thank heavens."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Does anything weird happen to the bag?"

Bishop says (to Wanda), "You have the bag. Are all the children safe?"

Eben comes around the corner and calls up to the roof. "Yup! I got 'em all out!"

GM says, "When Wanda checks the bag, she can briefly see a wobbly image of Eben's basement before the portal fizzles out."

GM says, "And with that, you have rescued the children and defeated the Krampus! And you've earned the gratitute of Nick Bishop in the process."

Wanda exclaims, "Woo!"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "If they were already in recovery at the start of the session, then yes."

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "Ah"

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Do we have the bag as loot? And were there any kids from previous years in there?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "But any new consequences that came about in this session haven't even started to recover yet."

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "So I just put Santa Claw Marks(recovering) instead of Santa Claws when next we play"

[CCrusaders] GM says (to Eben), "A) The bag is a Power, so if someone wants to spend one or more stunts on it, then http://grunk.org/rpgs/fate/vc_homebrew/pocket-dimension.html"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "Also true!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "thank you"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "My followups are that I want to ask Bishop if he's OK with the kids meeting him, and that in general over the next year, I'm going to study the bag/dimension to figure out a way for him to track it next time. And if it's literally the same bag every year, maybe we can use it as bait? I'm a bit unclear about the mechanics of the Krampus Return."

[CCrusaders] Zircon says, "Yeah there's possibly a whole new adventure in us tracking down the druids, or whatever"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Sounds good. And thanks for the warning :)"

[CCrusaders] Eben says, "(I'm also OK with the bag disappearing shortly after Krampus does, their magics tied together, or what have you.)"
